This privacy policy applies to the Alman Index mobile application and related services operated by Phillip Rosenheinrich (collectively, the “Application”). Phillip Rosenheinrich is hereinafter referred to as the “Service Provider”.

Entertainment disclaimer

Alman Index is a humor and satire app for entertainment and self-irony only. Quiz questions play with cultural clichés — they are not scientific, statistical, or official. Your Alman score and shareable certificate are a meme for fun, not a real document, credential, or government rating.

Information Collection and Use

The Application collects information when you download and use it. The Service Provider does not operate user accounts or a cloud backend for your quiz answers or scores.

Information that may be collected automatically includes:

  • your device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address,
  • device type, operating system, and app version,
  • advertising identifiers (such as Apple’s IDFA or Google’s Advertising ID), where permitted by your device settings and consent choices,
  • ad interaction data (for example impressions, clicks, and interstitial views),
  • diagnostic or usage data related to app performance and advertising.

The Service Provider may use contact information you provide (for example by email) to respond to support requests or legal notices.

The Application does not collect precise real-time location information.

On-device data

The following is stored only on your device and is not uploaded to the Service Provider:

  • your theme preference (light, dark, or system),
  • your language choice,
  • your quiz answers and scores during a session (used locally to calculate your result).

Quiz answers are processed on-device to compute your Alman tier and certificate. They are not transmitted to the Service Provider’s servers.

Advertising (AdMob)

The Application is free to use and may show ads through Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC):

  • Banner ads — may appear persistently during quiz play.
  • Interstitial ads — may appear before your certificate is shown.
  • Native ads — may appear in the friends ranking feed.

To measure ad performance, the Service Provider’s AdMob account may be linked to Google Firebase and Google Analytics. The Application uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK.

Depending on your region and settings, AdMob and its advertising partners may process:

  • device and app identifiers,
  • IP address and coarse location derived from IP,
  • ad request, display, and interaction events,
  • consent status signals (for example whether personalized ads are allowed).

If you decline tracking or personalized advertising, the Application requests non-personalized ads where supported.

Google’s advertising policies:

Where required by law, the Application requests consent at app startup (after the loading screen) via the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP), including iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) when configured in AdMob.

On supported devices the order is:

  1. Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) — privacy and advertising choices where required (for example in the EEA/UK under GDPR).
  2. Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT) — on iOS, the system “Allow Tracking” prompt may appear once if you have not decided yet.

You can change or review choices later:

  • In the Application: Settings → Ad settings (opens Google privacy options or the consent form where available).
  • On iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking for the ATT decision.
  • On Android: Settings → Google → Ads to reset or limit your advertising ID.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Application and its third-party SDKs (including Google Mobile Ads) may use cookies, SDK identifiers, pixels, and similar technologies to deliver ads, measure performance, and prevent fraud. Where required by applicable law, the Service Provider obtains consent before using non-essential tracking technologies.

Artificial Intelligence

The Application does not use artificial intelligence to process your data or calculate your Alman score.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data held by the Service Provider. To exercise these rights, or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, contact [email protected].

For data processed by Google (AdMob, Firebase, Analytics), you may also use Google’s tools and device settings described above.

Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. Third Party Access

The Service Provider may share information with third parties only as described in this policy — for example with Google as an advertising provider, or when required by law.

International Data Transfers

The Service Provider and its third-party providers (including Google) may transfer personal data to countries outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where applicable law requires safeguards, appropriate mechanisms are used, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.

Opt-Out Rights

You can stop further collection of information from your device by uninstalling the Application. To request deletion of personal data or exercise your rights, contact [email protected].

Data Retention Policy

  • User-provided data (for example support emails): for the duration of the inquiry plus up to 12 months, unless longer retention is required by law.
  • Automatically collected data via third-party ad providers: according to those providers’ retention schedules, typically up to 24 months.
  • On-device settings: until you clear app storage or uninstall the Application.
  • Data required for legal compliance: as long as required by applicable law.

Children

The Application is not intended for children under 16 years of age, or such higher age as required by applicable law. The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit data from children. Contact [email protected] if you believe a child has provided personal information.

Security

The Service Provider uses reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards for information it processes and maintains.

Data Breach Notification

If a data breach occurs that affects your personal data, the Service Provider will notify you in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

Changes

The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Previous versions are available on request at [email protected].

This privacy policy is effective as of June 16, 2026.

Where processing is based on consent, you provide that consent by affirmatively opting in through the consent dialogs or settings described above. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
